Calling Card Pal, My New Friend
Recently, I was invited to try out an App for my cell phone that, I was told, would make my international phone calls from my device easier and still save the money I get by using my international calling card. I make a lot of calls to East Asia and Europe so I was intrigued—though skeptical.
My opinion on this piece of software: Fantastic! I am neither a Tweener nor a Millennial able to tap out text on a mobile phone faster than a fly can blink. This easy to use, easy to access FREE App for Android, iPhone, and iWhatever-else products will take your calling card number, access code, and any pin number associated with the card and not only remember them for you, but also enter them for you in the appropriate places as you dial. Calling Card Pal is like a password storage system you may use for your computer that works for
international mobile calls with your calling card data.
Those of us who are curmudgeons, lazy, or befuddled by several long strings of numbers one must remember will love Calling Card Pal. The set-up is intuitive—as so often is not the case and easy to do with five logically sequential screens (though in my version—Android--it goes Screen #1, then to Screen #3, then on to #4, #5, & #6—I have double checked--Screen #2 is not missing it is just mis-numbered as are the subsequent screens - an easy fix).
The interface is clean, sleek, and efficient. Once Calling Card Pal is turned on, it will reside in the background so you may make any number of calling card calls without having to restart the app. If you are concerned about battery life, it is simple to turn it off from the main menu screen when you have no need of it for a time.
Repeating what I said above, one does not need to access this screen again after this app has been enabled; just dial from your keypad then Calling Card Pal will recognize an international call or, if one is in the United States, Canadian and North American long distance numbers, and automatically enter what data and numbers that are needed to complete the call with your calling card information previously entered.
This free App works seamlessly with your phone card and mobile phone and even your contacts list. Time of the destination call is displayed. Once configured, there will be no more need to punch in access numbers or pin codes—it is all done for you.
This app is easily obtainable from Google Play Store and the iTunes Store. For your convenience, I have put hyperlinks below to the appropriate sites.
The main web site for Netspectrum Calling Card Pal, the vendor, is: http://ccpal.netspectrum.com/
Or go directly to the web site to the download for Android: Calling Card Pal, Android
Or the web site for a direct download for iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is: Calling Card Pal, iPad
Let me describe the main features of this great free app:
* You do a one-time configuration, including your local access number and any pin number if needed
* You dial international numbers directly from the app (iPhone) or Android dialer (Android)
* No Access Number Nor Pin Number Needed
* Calling Card Pal will automatically detect the foreign numbers and translate into proper dialing sequence to dial the local access number, plus any pin number (if so configured) and destination number
* You can also dial international numbers directly from your phone book
